Kansas Laborers’ Local 1290 Endorses Governor Kelly for Re-Election

TOPEKA – Today, the Kansas Laborers’ Local 1290 endorsed Governor Kelly for re-election. Kansas Laborers’ Local 1290 represents construction workers across Kansas, including environmental, pipeline, and industrial construction workers. Kansas Laborers’ Local 1290 members have been instrumental in rebuilding Kansas’ bridges, roads, and highways – a top priority for Governor Kelly as she worked to close the Bank of KDOT and reinvested in our infrastructure.

“The growth that Governor Kelly has brought to our state has led to an influx of jobs for our members like never before. Before Governor Kelly, our roads and bridges were crumbling and there were limited job opportunities for our members as the previous administration refused to make necessary repairs. Meanwhile, Derek Schmidt stood by while Brownback stole from KDOT to fund his ‘tax experiment.’ All of that changed under Governor Kelly.” Director of Political Affairs, Mike Kane said. “Now, not only is our critical infrastructure being repaired, our members have a number of new job opportunities to choose from as businesses move to Kansas and need our members for construction of their new headquarters. We’re supporting Governor Kelly because of the success she has achieved and look forward to seeing where she takes Kansas in the future.”

“With $13 billion in new business investment and over 47,000 jobs created and retained, there is no doubt that business is booming here in Kansas. Kansas Laborers’ Local 1290 have been instrumental in this progress,” Governor Laura Kelly said. “I’m proud to have the support of Kansas local construction workers and look forward to what we will achieve together in my second term.”

Governor Kelly’s campaign continues to build momentum earning broad support from every corner of Kansas, including former RNC Committeewoman Alicia Salisbury, former Republican Attorney General Robert Stephan, former Republican Representative Jan Kessinger, former Republican Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger, over 60 other Kansas Republicans, over 125 current and former Kansas educatorsthe Kansas Carpenters UnionEquality Kansas , the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union of Kansas, the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Union of Kansas, over 60 Kansas small business ownersthe Kansas Service Employees International Union, the Kansas City Pipe Fitters Local 533 Union, and Kansas AFL-CIO.
